A lot of what was understood about DMT changed over that time period. Our documentary was made over six years while we worked full-time jobs and raised funds for the doc. As indie filmmakers, we work very hard to present a point of view, and we're honored that you took the time to watch. I'm very glad you guys had a chance to watch the film whether or not you enjoyed or agreed with the film. But It's a whole lot more plausible in my mind than fucking transcendence to another dimension. Total and utter layman speculation here, mind. Hence the time dilation, those parts of our brain are just running faster. I think DMT lets us perceive what our more primitive parts of our brain are doing. I don't think that we're unlocking any higher state of being. Hell, we even come to concious decisions before we're consciously aware of making them. Instinct and reflex are driven by systems hundreds of millions of years old that's carrying on doing so much we're not even concious of. Our conciousness is a big fat neocortex running on top of a lizard brain that's operating much, much faster than we can perceive. It's a lower level, something deeper and more primitive. Personally I don't think it's any higher level of reality or anything outside or more advanced than ourself. Yeah, especially around 55ish they go a bit off the deep end. They are mostly hard science and research with a little new age thrown in for fun. For people who would like to learn more about psychedelic research I would recommend MAPS as a good place to start. My problem with that is the it looks like all these researchers came to the same conclusions when that is not the case at all.Īnyway, sorry for the rant. For example, they show David Nichols (who was the leading science researcher into psychedelics in the US) discussing receptor binding profiles or something and then immediately cut to someone claiming that this proves some supernatural theory. For the layman, however, there is no way to distinguished who is who. This is fine for people who have been in the psychedelic community for decades and kind of know who the movers and shakers are, know what the arguments are, and know what the research is. That is ok but what does bother me is that it will mix interviews of the two groups together into one narrative which I don't think is very accurate. Firstly is that these speakers include extremely respected scientists and researchers and some very far out hippie/new age types and the documentary makes to effort to distinguish the two. I enjoyed this and find DMT really interesting but I feel the need to share some complaints. I should mention that this documentary is based off a book of the same name published Strassman that was much more science based. Want to submit a video which is not a documentary?
